During Viva Technology 2024, we announced a strategic partnership with Siemens France to optimize the design and operations of our future low-carbon iron production plant in Fos-sur-Mer. This project, representing an investment of €2.2 billion, is a key milestone in our ambition to transform the steel value chain.
A Digital and High-Performance Plant
Leveraging Siemens’ technological expertise and its Xcelerator platform, we will create a digital twin of our industrial site. This innovative approach will enable us to:
- Optimize project design and planning
- Reduce engineering and construction costs
- Enhance operational performance and minimize future maintenance expenses
Our plant is scheduled to be operational in 2028, producing 2 million tonnes of low-carbon iron per year, which will help avoid nearly 4 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually compared to traditional processes.
A Partnership for a Sustainable Future
Signing this agreement with Siemens France marks a major step in our ambition to become a reference in low-carbon iron production. Siemens’ digital expertise will allow us to optimize the design, implementation, and operation of our Fos-sur-Mer site.
