Integrating these considerations from the project’s design stage helps secure long-term competitiveness and anticipate potential adverse effects (e.g. impacts of climate change).
Our environmental priorities
Dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions from steelmaking while controlling impacts on water, natural resources and biodiversity.

Steel decarbonisation
GravitHy relies on hydrogen‑based direct reduction (H2‑DRI) to produce iron with a very low carbon footprint.

Water‑efficient design: reuse of process water, recycling and seawater‑based cooling systems.
Biodiversity and land use
Strict application of the Avoid – Reduce – Compensate approach, from site design through operations. GravitHy’s location within an existing industrial and port area, historically dedicated to industrial use, inherently helps limit the development of new land and associated impacts on natural ecosystems. This siting strategy is complemented by careful attention to areas with ecological sensitivities and by the implementation of appropriate avoidance, reduction and compensation measures.
