GravitHy at the Heart of the “France Electrification Team”

  • Updates

On May 26, 2026, GravitHy took part in the “Let’s Electrify France” event, held at the Élysée Palace, alongside leading players in the country’s industrial and energy transformation. This key milestone confirms the strategic role of electrification in the reindustrialization and decarbonization of the French economy — and also highlights GravitHy’s central role in advancing the electrification of industrial uses.

A collective mobilization at the highest level of government

Convened by the French President, Emmanuel Macron, together with members of his government, ministers, and the General Secretariat for Investment (SGPI), several business leaders, energy providers, industrial companies, and grid operators gathered to discuss a shared ambition: accelerating the electrification of the French economy to strengthen its competitiveness and industrial sovereignty.

The message is clear:

  • France benefits from a unique competitive advantage thanks to its abundant, low-carbon, and cost-competitive nuclear electricity;
  • The priority now is to fully leverage this advantage by increasing production, accelerating grid connections, and scaling up industrial deployment.
  • In an uncertain international context, marked by geopolitical tensions and the race for clean technologies, decarbonization is becoming not only a climate imperative but also a matter of sovereignty.

Electrification: a pillar of reindustrialization

GravitHy participated in the roundtable dedicated to the electrification of businesses, facilitated by the Minister Delegate for Energy, Maud Brégeron, alongside key players such as EDF, RTE, Schneider Electric, and GEODIS, affirming its role within this strategic sequence for the electrification of the economy.

A strong conviction emerged: tomorrow’s industry will be electrified.

Electrifying industrial processes is now one of the most powerful levers to:

  • Dramatically reduce CO₂ emissions,
  • Improve the competitiveness of industrial sites,
  • Secure energy supply,
  • Break dependence on imported fossil fuels,
  • And relocate strategic value chains back to Europe.

Why France? GravitHy’s strategic choice

During its intervention, GravitHy reiterated the founding reasons behind its decision to establish operations in France, and more specifically in Fos-sur-Mer:

– Europe is currently the only economic area capable of fostering a competitive green industry, supported by an ambitious and long-term regulatory framework;

– France benefits from a low-carbon electricity mix, an ability to accelerate strategic industrial projects, and a strong framework for recognizing and supporting large-scale initiatives such as GravitHy, notably labeled a Major National Interest Project (PINM) and integrated into the “Notre-Dame” scheme;

– Fos-sur-Mer is an exceptional site offering rare advantages in Europe:

  • world-class port, rail, and energy infrastructure,
  • land availability suited to large-scale industrial projects,
  • a long-standing industrial tradition and a highly skilled workforce in key sectors such as metallurgy, dock operations, welding, and more.

With its decarbonized iron production project, GravitHy is pursuing a clear ambition: to contribute to the relocation and decarbonization of the steel value chain in Europe, thereby accelerating the energy transition while enhancing the sector’s competitiveness.

A strengthened commitment to Fos-sur-Mer and the region

The event was also marked by a major announcement: the confirmation of the State’s commitment to the future 400 kV high-voltage power line, essential to support both industrial electrification and civil electricity uses in the Bouches-du-Rhône region.

In the words of the French President: “We will need to build new electrical lines along this connection axis, and this will only be achieved through strong cooperation and consultation with local territories. This is particularly the case for the line that will supply the Fos industrial area. It is not only for the port, but truly for the electrification of the entire South and this Mediterranean corridor. This line is necessary, and we must send a clear signal to provide visibility to industrial players (…) and do everything possible to ensure it is operational by 2029, in order to meet rising consumption and enable the electrification of existing and future industries.

Its commissioning is a key prerequisite to:

  • secure electricity supply for industrial projects,
  • support the development of new industrial sites,
  • and position Fos-sur-Mer as a leading hub for decarbonized industry in Europe.

A Collective Momentum and a Shared Responsibility

By joining this “France Electrification Team,” GravitHy is fully part of a collective movement of industrial players committed to fundamentally transforming the production model.

This mobilization reflects a reality: the energy transition is not decreed — it is built, project by project, territory by territory, industry by industry.

Let’s Electrify France

More than a slogan, it is a necessity.

GravitHy is proud to contribute to this ambitious momentum, alongside public & private partners, to build an industry that is:

  • more sustainable,
  • more competitive,
  • and resolutely future-oriented.

We will be there!
