Our purpose

A new industry standard

As a future European leader in low-carbon iron production, our model is based on collaboration and a strong commitment to local ecosystems. We position ourselves at the crossroads of climate action, industrial sovereignty and innovation within the steel industry value chain.

This positioning is fully in line with the broad European guidelines: the European Union has made decarbonisation of heavy industry a strategic priority, with structuring initiatives such as the European Green Deal, which aims for carbon neutrality by 2050, and the Fit for 55 program, imposing a 55% reduction in emissions by 2030.

José Noldin

CEO of GravitHy

GravitHy is a pioneering industrial company, working to accelerate the transformation of the steel industry value chain by providing steelmakers with low-carbon iron for the production of greener steel. Our mission is clear: decarbonize the steel sector by producing iron from electricity, while contributing to the industrial sovereignty of the location we set our activities.

What drives us

Three core values guide our decisions, shape our culture and guide our relationships with all stakeholders.

Bold

We dare to challenge the status quo. We are not afraid to innovate, to shake standards and to chart the path towards a new industrial paradigm.

Trustworthy

We act with integrity, transparency and accountability, to build lasting relationships based on trust – with our partners, our teams and society.

Impactful

We measure our success by our contribution to the planet and people. From reducing CO₂ emissions to creating jobs, we aim to make a real difference.

Alice Vieillefosse

Managing Director of GravitHy

By decoupling iron production from traditional blast-furnace processes and relying on low-carbon electricity, we are opening a new era for iron making. Our technology offers steelmakers and industrial stakeholders a concrete, immediate, high-impact pathway to decarbonize their operations. It also enables lasting reindustrialization of the region through skilled, sustainable jobs, and helps build a low-carbon steel industry that is efficient, resilient, and globally competitive for the long run.

The steel industry facing the climate challenge

On a global scale, the steel industry is one of the most GHG-emitting sectors. This is explained by the massive use of coal in traditional blast furnaces, which emit on average 1.6 to 2 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of steel produced.
An untenable reality in a world in search of carbon neutrality. To achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement and those of the European Green Deal, it is imperative to deeply transform steel production processes, at GravitHy this is the mission to which we contribute.

The steel industry accounts for about 8% of global CO emissions, and 5% of European Union emissions.

8%

Of global CO₂ emissions annually.
If the steel industry was a country, it would be the 3rd most emissive in the world.
