We are pleased to announce the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) with EDF to secure part of the electricity supply for our first low-carbon DRI/HBI production plant in Fos-sur-Mer. This agreement marks a major milestone in the realization of our industrial project.
Stable and Competitive Low-Carbon Energy
The partnership includes a Nuclear Production Allocation Contract (CAPN), which will provide GravitHy with a share of France’s nuclear power capacity for more than 10 years. This mechanism ensures a competitive and stable price based on actual production costs and reflects a risk-sharing approach between EDF and its industrial partners.
Our mission to decarbonize the steel industry is intrinsically linked to securing green, low-carbon electricity in sufficient quantity and at a competitive price. We welcome this major step with EDF, which further strengthens the implementation of our first direct reduction iron plant in Fos-sur-Mer.

Driving the Energy Transition
Projects like GravitHy are essential to reducing the 8% of global CO₂ emissions attributed to steelmaking. By using electrolytic hydrogen, our plant will produce low-carbon iron, cutting its carbon footprint by up to 90% compared to traditional processes. This iron will serve the growing market for green steel, driven by sectors such as construction, transportation, and renewable energy.
Supported by France 2030
This project also benefits from the French government’s France 2030 plan, which recognized GravitHy’s ambition and quality by awarding support through Bpifrance under the “Première Usine” program.
