We are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HES FOS, a subsidiary of HES International, to establish a long-term strategic partnership for the development of port infrastructure essential to our industrial project in Fos-sur-Mer.
A key partnership for industrial transition
Our plant, scheduled to start operations in 2029, will play a major role in decarbonizing the European steel industry. It will require the import of iron ore pellets and the export of Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI), making reliable maritime access and robust logistics capabilities critical to success.
With its strategic location, operational berths, and expertise in bulk handling, HES FOS is the ideal partner to design and implement these infrastructures.
Building efficient and sustainable supply chains
This partnership includes the development of storage, handling, and transfer facilities to ensure smooth inbound and outbound flows of raw materials and finished products. The goal is to create a resilient and economically viable framework that guarantees the competitiveness and sustainability of our operations.
This agreement marks an important milestone for GravitHy as we take another step toward building a sustainable and competitive industrial ecosystem. Partnering with HES FOS gives us direct access to world-class port infrastructure, which is vital for securing the efficiency and reliability our business requires regarding the flow of our materials.
— Alice Vieillefosse, CEO of GravitHy
This MoU is a strong example of how HES FOS can leverage its location, infrastructure, and expertise to support the energy transition and the industrial decarbonization in Europe. We are proud to partner with GravitHy in developing a solution that aligns with both companies’ ambitions and supports the regional economy.
— Frédéric Pellegrin, Terminal Director at HES International
A shared commitment to decarbonization
The MoU sets the framework for negotiating a definitive agreement by 2026. It reflects our joint commitment to building resilient, future-oriented infrastructure that will play a key role in decarbonizing European industry.
